Zachry offers significant experience in the design, evaluation and analysis of nuclear power plant systems. Reliable efficient plant operation over the long term required knowledge of the ongoing enhancements to system hardware as well as a state-of-the-art awareness approach to electrical engineering.

Our staff has extensive technical knowledge supporting the full range of electrical equipment including transformers, generators, switchgear, load centers, motor control centers, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), UPSs, cables and utility grid interfacing requirements. Electrical engineering capabilities include:

  • Metering and relay protection studies
  • EDS model development as well as support for EDS software platform conversion efforts. Participation in the ETAP Nuclear Utility User Group keeps Zachry abreast of associated industry issues and experience, the latest ETAP software updates/features and also provides a forum for direct feedback to OTI. Typical EDS analysis/calculations/studies performed by Zachry include short circuit, load flow, voltage drop, motor starting and protective device coordination.
